Jack Kalmbach

I served in the Ethiopia-US Mapping Mission from Dec 1964 to June 1966. During my tour, I flew map classification missions all over Ethiopia as well as survey mission support, primarily, in the southern and western areas of the country.  My last three months were spent in Sudan.

Upon my return to the states, I was assigned to Fort Lewis Washington where I retired from active duty in October 1966.

After leaving the service I was employed as an executive pilot in Tacoma, Washington.

In 1969 I became Chief Pilot for a small fixed base operation located in Port Orchard, WA.  In October of that year I became it’s manager. In April 1970 I suffered a stroke that left me paralyzed on the left side and ended my flying career.

Following a return to college to complete a degree in Business Administration I was employed by The Washington State Board for Community College Education in 1972 as a budget analyst. I later became Assistant Director for Operating Budget.

From 1982 to 1993 I was Dean of Administration at Centralia College in Centralia, Washington
