Hi Folks, 

It’s been a year since we met in Chicago and had a great time.  John Godwin did another excellent job of setting up a nice reunion.  At the banquet, during a moment of insanity, my wife and I volunteered to host the Ethi – US Mapping Mission reunion in 2011.  It will be in Portland, Maine on the weekend of September 9th thru 11th, 2011. 

For those of you who are saying “Where the heck is Maine?”, we are the piece of land stuck in between New Hampshire and New Brunswick, Canada. We aren’t as uncivilized as you think.  Portland has a good sized airport , Amtrak train service from North Station in Boston, MA, and bus service to and from Logan Airport in Boston. If you want to sight see between Boston and Portland, you can rent a car.  

At this time we have the hotel contracted out.  You may start making your reservations at the following:

The room rate is $79 per night (excluding taxes) for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 8 -11.  (I believe state tax is 7% on hotel rooms.)  Check-in time is 3:00 pm on day of arrival.  Check-out time is 12:00 noon on the day of departure.    

Friday night there will be a meet and greet dinner in the hotel restaurant from 6:00 to 8:00.  Ordering will be off the menu and pay as you go.  The restaurant will be offering some specials on lobster dinners and other seafood also.  The buffet banquet will be on Saturday evening.   The buffet will be pay in advance. We will put out more on the buffet info in the spring. 

So plan your trip by plane, train, or automobile, or any combination of the three.  I am looking forward to seeing all of you and I hope you all will enjoy the area and the seafood of Maine. 

If you know that you can’t attend please let us know so we won’t bother you with our info mailings.  But we hope you will consider joining us at the reunion in Portland.
